ANCIENT KROTON
Where history becomes matter
Crotone is ancient Kroton, one of the most important cities of Magna Graecia, a place of art, thought, worship, and extraordinary craftsmanship. Between the 6th and 5th century BC it reached one of the brightest moments in its history. Here lived and taught Pythagoras, leaving a deep mark on philosophy, mathematics, and Western thought.
THE TRIPOD
Among the most recognizable symbols of ancient Kroton is the Tripod, depicted on its famous silver coinage. An ancient image that spans the centuries and that even today tells the identity of our land.
In the ROMEO workshop these symbols are studied and reinterpreted through gold, silver, and bronze, keeping alive the bond with their origin.
HERA LACINIA
On the headland of Capo Colonna stood the great sanctuary dedicated to Hera Lacinia. Of that ancient sacred place remains the famous Doric column overlooking the Ionian Sea, symbol of a history that continues to live in Crotone’s landscape and memory.
JEWELS BORN FROM MEMORY
Coins, deities, tripods, and figures of Magna Graecia are not simple decorations. They are witnesses of a civilization to which my land belongs. In my workshop in Crotone these ancient symbols are transformed into jewelry and small sculptures, worked in 750 gold, 925 silver, and bronze through artisanal techniques.
Not soulless copies, but memory turned into matter.
