Every jewel is created exclusively in the ROMEO workshop in Crotone. No industrial production. Only authentic handcrafted work.
For over 50 years ROMEO
Makes directly in its own workshop handcrafted Jannacche, developing a very wide range of shapes, sizes, cutouts, decorations and glazes. We don’t simply assemble parts made elsewhere: we design, build, weld, decorate and finish the Jannacche in our workshop.

There’s a substantial difference between assembling a piece of jewelry and knowing how to craft it. We Jannacche know how to craft them.

A TRULY IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION
We don’t just assemble parts bought from outside makers. We design, build, weld, decorate, enamel and finish the Jannacche directly in our goldsmith workshop.
Jannacche with cathedral enamel
Among the most distinctive works of the ROMEO workshop are the Jannacche with cathedral enamel. The openwork grain structure holds the transparent enamel, allowing light to pass through the color and create effects of special brilliance. A complex process, in which goldsmithing and enamel are conceived together from the very beginning.

Calabrian memory
The Jannacca belongs to the heritage of traditional Calabrian goldsmithing and appears, with different linguistic and formal variants, in several communities across the area.
In the Arbëreshë communities, the Kanaka is also documented, linked to the ornaments of the traditional women’s costume. Its history, therefore, cannot be reduced to exclusive belonging to a single place.
In the ROMEO workshop this memory is preserved through the craft: study of forms, hands-on making, and ongoing technical research.
